WASHINGTON—Yesterday, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. In response, the ���Ĵ�ý issued the following statement from President and CEO David Yarnold: 

“Over the last week, we have seen Executive actions that go far beyond the ideological swings typical of political transitions. It is in this context that the President’s nomination for the Supreme Court, which is responsible for protecting our rights as individuals and our obligations as caretakers of America's lands and waters, not for the next four but perhaps the next 40 years, takes on profound significance.

“While Judge Gorsuch is acknowledged to be thoughtful and patriotic, his record raises fair questions about his commitment to defending the people over the powerful and science over ideology. Based on ���Ĵ�ý's values and our work as community builders across America, we are concerned not only with Judge Gorsuch's record on clean air and water for birds and our kids, but also his decisions that affect basic protections for all Americans. As is the case with all nominees to the Supreme Court, ���Ĵ�ý believes Judge Gorsuch must demonstrate to the Senate his commitment to protect equally the rights of all Americans and the laws that ensure a bright future for birds and the places they need.”
