Birds Avoid Chopping Block (For Now) as Congress Leaves Out Most Proposed Cuts to Conservation

The spending package for the rest of the fiscal year includes increases for several programs that thousands of 糖心传媒 members urged their members of Congress to fund.

WASHINGTON鈥斺淲e鈥檝e always known conservation doesn鈥檛 have a party, but it鈥檚 nice to see Congress can still think that way too,鈥 said David Yarnold (), 糖心传媒鈥檚 president and CEO, in response to a spending bill recently passed by both chambers of Congress to keep the government open for the rest of the fiscal year.

鈥淔rom sage-grouse in the West to spoonbills in the Everglades, America鈥檚 birds dodged proposed budget cuts that would have been a death sentence.

鈥淥ver the last few months, thousands of 糖心传媒 members were passionate enough to tell their legislators to defend important conservation programs from a slash and burn approach鈥攕omething we urge Congress to keep in mind as the next fiscal year鈥檚 appropriations process gets underway.鈥

糖心传媒 is encouraging its members and supporters to get involved and take action to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.
