Must-Pass Spending Legislation Includes Some Wins for Birds

Longer-term solutions remain elusive as budget negotiations close.

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Congress is expected to vote on a massive year-end spending bill this Friday, which President Obama is expected to sign. Included in the legislation are various environmental victories. The 糖心传媒 issued the following statement:

鈥淪o Congress can agree on something: supporting the conservation priorities that all Americans care about,鈥 said 糖心传媒 President and CEO David Yarnold. 鈥淔rom a temporary reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund to the proper funding of sage-grouse conservation plans, birds and their habitats got some short-term wins in this bill. That鈥檚 a good reminder that conservation doesn鈥檛 have a party, and we look forward longer-term solutions down the line.鈥

The 糖心传媒 saves birds and their habitats throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education and on-the-ground conservation. 糖心传媒's state programs, nature centers, chapters and partners have an unparalleled wingspan that reaches millions of people each year to inform, inspire and unite diverse communities in conservation action.
